Elevate Associates Scheme

Who is this for?
ACTA are looking for up to 10 theatre practitioners who face barriers and challenges to pursuing a career in theatre due to a number of different circumstances, whether that is down to social or familial barriers, or health and wellbeing challenges.

The scheme would suit early to mid-career artists and practitioners, and those with some experience already of working in community theatre settings, whether that is in this country or abroad.

What can I expect?
You will be part of a friendly and supportive group who will meet together not only to take part in workshops, seminars and events delivered by acta, but also as a peer-support group, helping each other through the challenges that you face.

You can expect to learn and explore your own ideas in a safe, fun and supportive environment. We would expect that you can attend most of the sessions, but we do understand that often, people have other commitments that can arise unexpectedly.

Where and when will it take place?
The sessions will take place at the acta centre, Bedminster, Bristol BS3 3AY.

The scheme will last for 7 months (September 2022-March 2023)

How do I apply?
ACTA would like to know why you’d like to take part in Elevate. You can do this by writing to us (keep it to two sides of A4 or less please), or making a video or audio recording (five minutes or less please).

Specifically, they’d like you to answer the following questions:

Why are you interested in the scheme?
What do you hope to gain from it?
What are the barriers and challenges that you face to pursue a career in community theatre?
How many of the dates we mentioned can you attend?
