Local resident, skateboarder, business owner and father, Daniel Higginson, recently finished a documentary about the 40+ year history of Dean Lane skatepark and was blown away by the positive response the film has had from people of all generations who have extremely fond memories of time spent in the park. He said; ‘The sense of community and respect that the locals have is like no other skatepark I have visited. Using the awareness created by the film as a platform I propose that the skatepark is in need of updating and modernising to keep up with the evolution of skateboarding.’ Daniel has started a fundraising campaign here where you can find out more about his ideas.
Another local resident, Rob Osman, has set up Dudes & Dogs CIC, a mental well being initiative to encourage men to get out in the open air and talk. Rob has started doing walks locally, and is also looking to spread his model across the city and beyond. You can find out more here
