There is a new Vehicle Idling Action project being launched. As an outline, the proposed Vehicle Idling Action events will consist of an air quality information hub at a location with high numbers of vehicle drop off and pick-ups (schools, hospitals, stations etc..) with Air Quality Champions working in pairs in the area to engage drivers who have had their engines idling for more than 1 minute – asking them to switch off.
 
The project is also working with a handful of schools across the city, which Parson Street Primary is one, offering an Air Quality and active travel programme of assemblies and classroom sessions leading up to a whole school event which will take place on Thursday 13th February. It is hoped local Air Quality Champions will be involved at this event by helping with the Vehicle Idling Action, as described above.
