The Chair of BS3 Planning, Neil Sellers,  is looking for someone to take over the role. The basic duties are:
 
1. Keep an eye on the mail box – probably warrants checking a couple of times a week
2. Manage any pre-apps (those are the ones that are shared on a private basis before developers go public and offer a REAL chance to influence their final plans).
3. Voice of the group, in correspondence with Development Management and generally
4. Publicize group activities – mailing list and Facebook – and arrange meetings
5. “Press” – both The Pigeon and South Bristol Voice are willing and able to take content from local groups
 
It is a role that can be hugely rewarding, but you will also need to be prepared to voice the group’s views and concerns to those with opposing views, sometimes vehemently opposed. You’ll learn not to take it personally and realise that you are speaking for the BS3 community as a whole. Neither Ben Barker (who founded the group) nor Neil have any background in planning. There are some in the group for whom planning is “the day job” and who have always been happy to support where required. But this is really about being the community view and voice rather than an expert in planning rules and law.

Ideally, we’re looking for someone to take it on from the end of January. This role could be shared, and will be supported by others in the group.
